Down in the park
Where the chant is "Death, death, death"
Until the sun cries morning
Down in the park with friends of mine

"We are not lovers
We are not romantics
We are here to serve you"
A different face but the words never change

People who weren't teenagers then and who never ever were on Numan's concerts can say "Fuck my life", because it's true. So, FUCK MY LIFE. :(

it's too bad the future is not as awesome as the 80s anticipated it to be.

It not about war at all, its about living in a future world where everything is run by machines.

Yes I agree, the first version I ever heard was Mansons, and I knew it was a cover, but never heard the original for years after, so I was already attatched to Mansons. I think they stand out on their own as seperate versions, Numans has things Mansons doesn't and vice versa. I like the intensity Manson's has and the drama Numans has, I like them equally! One of the best songs I've ever heard! :)

Well this kind of music, like Numan here is doing, was sorta an alternative cutting edge type of music in it's early day ( late seventies / early eighties) with artists like Numan, Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Devo, Luarie Anderson, Throbbing Gristle, Caberate Voltair and the like. I even thought these artists were going to be the defining goups of the 80's, but then it got ruined by the corporate mainstream who'd took it, homogenized it and turned it into another trend ( "synth pop " ).

Damn shame, cause there were some tallented acts at the begining of the movement who were doing some really amazing and potentialy revolutionary stuff.
