To make up for my lack of new content this week... I decided to start a mini-series out of how crops grow in Minecraft.

We cover the most optimal way to farm wheat and explain the concepts as to why it works.

  • Have you got brace's in or a lisp? Im not slagging you im just asking cause i can kind of hear it xD

  • lisp ;)

  • Your video makes it sound like the n/s e/w diagonal check is north AND south or East AND West, and when you show the diagonal you show two blocks across from each other. My understanding is that these are all OR statements in that even if you only have one crop to the north it will still check for crops to the east OR west and each of the diagonals. If any of those spaces have crops it will make the divide. This wasn't quite clear from your description.

  • My apologies, any recommendations (it'd have to be an annotation at this point) on how I can clear that up? Because you're absolutely right, it's IF( North OR South == True) AND ((East OR West == True) OR (ANY Diagonal == TRUE)), then growth_rate/2.

  • I think I can figure out a more optimal wheat to water pattern then the one you show. Video sometime tomorrow as a response sound ok?

  • Sounds great! Can't wait to see it :)

  • THEORETICALLY: when you place a 4x4 pattern of wheat, then each of those would have half the growth rate, but you would also get double the wheat... so you just get the same amount of wheat at the end because if you have 1 row with grothrate 10 or two rows with growth rate 5 doesn't matter ^^

  • @Deeredman4 Though that sounds like a good idea the wheat will not grow because the block above it is solid, unlike with the glass which is transparent.

  • I have a question :)...since the light level determined by the wheat is 1 block above the wheat...wouldn't it be more optimal to place your glowstone 1 level above wheat level? :)

  • @MrPixelTech how did u find out abaut the programmed stuff (im learning php atm)

  • That lisp is making me so nausious

  • whos the asshole that put an S in lisp

  • You make maths and Minecraft sound so easy to understand thanks

  • mmmmmm i bet your a swell gal... you can do me anyday *smooches hand*

  • does it matter if you plant it north to south or east to west?

  • I did it like you, except the glowstone on the side i had to put ON farmland due to the lack of place, but still - some farmland is dry - did it change?
