This video is mainly here to embarrass the city of Peoria, Illinois for its pathetic snow and ice removal efforts in the aftermath of a storm that hit on December 18/19 2008. They can pay $30,000 for a firm to design a new logo for the city, they can take out a $40 million loan to build a new hotel downtown(when we already can't figure out how to pay for a nearly $300 million sewer system upgrade mandated by the federal government), but they can't pony up a bit more money and correct a huge public safety issue. This video was made the morning of December 26, a full week after this storm hit.

  • The most frustrating thing is not the ice, but the fact Peoria always has enough money for their pet projects, but none to do the everyday services. As far as being too cold, at least some gravel on top would help, you don't always has to use mag-cloride, or salt. As far as increasing taxes? Anyone who lives in Peoria knows that you are paying huge taxes, with no representation. Of course that is not just in Peoria.

  • This is exactly the point I was trying to make with this video. The city OK'd ~$40 million to be put forth to help build a hotel downtown. Regardless of what financial instrument is being used to pay for it...the city is paying $40 million. Giving money to millionaires essentially. And they spent $30,000 on hiring a consulting firm to design a new logo. I'm glad someone understands rather than just being like "STFU, they can't do better without raising taxes".

  • being from Rockford I cant claim to know Peoria but it looks like your in the township or county cause you have no curbs or sidewalks. You in the city???

  • Nope, we're right in the city. And we have sidewalks and curbs. You just can't see em because of the snow.

  • Your a fucking idiot!!! Lmfao you fat fuck!!!

  • i live in peoria its easy so get ur fat ass up and do it urself fuckin complaining bitch

  • i used to live there. not anymore. i live where it is nice and warm.

  • I have to laugh at the people saying "do it your self" The point again (you have top spell it out for some people) is that you are paying to have it done. The high taxes is supposed to cover street clearing and snow removal. Why are you paying for a service you are not getting. If it was a private company, nobody in the country would give them payment for this kind of service.

I guess this concept in beyond stupid people and trolls.

  • Quit fucking complaining and do it yourself fatass

  • Continued.. secondly it looks like a side street and city usually doesnt do anything for side streets because well their are alot of side streets in a city... I live on a side street and we have abt 10 houses on my road I have 2 buckets of de-ice and I walked up and down the street with a seed thrower machine spreading de-ice pellets on the road It took one bucket (40 bucks) noone helped but they seen me doing it and I received to thank you letters in the mail

  • 1.Stop waiting on your Government to do something about this situation which seems to happen every year and Unite as a neighborhood and fix teh problem yourself. I see atleast 20 houses that could have contributed to bags of ice melt. You guys could have a fund and every year around October buy the buckets of ice melt and use it for your street. If you wait on your city to fix the problem then youre only crippling yourself. Secondly --continued ----->

  • I live in Eastern canada and the government spends countless millions on snow and ice control. Municipal governments likewise. I believe we have the cadallic service bar none.

  • last year was pretty bad with that ice storm and all....im hoping this year is better...then again some snow days from school woudent be bad at all.
