  • didn't Ian Underwood transcribe that solo piano section?

  • No, he played it on "Burnt Weeny Sandwich"

  • Hey! Aren't the first 1 min 50 secs on Ship Arriving Too Late? - either on the title track or on Envelopes? Or am I just descending into madness?! Definitely Motherfuckers of Mental Health Invention here - there is no mental health without Zappa! Tommy's keyboards are awesome.

  • Nope, you are descending into madness. This is most definitely the piano interlude on "Burnt Weeny Sandwich". If you don't know it, check it out

  • ed mann on percussion and arthur barrow on bass.

Thx for posting, first time ive heard the 78 band play this song

  • I know, I know... I was lazy

  • @thestikman Lucky You are to being there that night...to answering your question...I Got to check It Out, but If I remembered well I Thing this show exist in soundboard recrding, maybe the 2 show cause I believed there's was an early & a late show on this date....Forgive me If I'm totally wrong...Promise to check it out in my setlist...

  • @GreggaryPeccary He also did a transcription of it and it was published in the Frank Zappa Songbook in the early 70´s

  • 4:30...Tommy gets me moist....;-)

  • I alway loved Zappa so creative.....

  • Wow. Just Wow.

  • @strav12 I can recommend a good therapist,if needed! try changing the meds you're on. Just Kidding!! yes,the progressions and ensemble sound a bit like those compositions. But this is frank's comtemporary style.I've always maintained the three greatest composers were:1) Beethoven 2) Stravinsky 3) Zappa And frank mixed in pop, jazz, doowop, fusion, heavy metal etc.

  • @thestikman a torrent of the whole show (and hundreds of others) is at Zappateers. "Wild Love" wasn't played that night, or on that tour, as far as I know.

  • @dekekyo Too perfect....I'm stealing this....

  • This was 09/21/1978 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. I was there. At around 2:50 the crowd started chanting "Titties and Beer", at least that's what I heard from my vantage point. Mercifully, on this recording it just sounds like cheering. From there Tommy sang some lyrics I've never heard before of since. Sounds like he might have made them up on the spot. Anyone know about this? Anyone have the "Wild Love" from that night? I left the hall that night humming it. Cheers.
