Television - Marquee Moon [1977]
I remember
how the darkness doubled
I recall
lightning struck itself.
I was listening
listening to the rain
I was hearing
hearing something else.

Television - Marquee Moon [1977]
I remember how the darkness doubled I recall lightning struck itself. I was listening listening to the rain I was hearing hearing something else.
Life in the hive puckered up my night, the kiss of death, the embrace of life. There I stand neath the Marquee Moon Just waiting, Hesitating... I ain't waiting
I spoke to a man down at the tracks. I asked him how he don't go mad. He said "Look here junior, don't you be so happy. And for Heaven's sake, don't you be so sad."
Well a Cadillac it pulled out of the graveyard. Pulled up to me all they said get in. Then the Cadillac it puttered back into the graveyard. And me, I got out again.

i think it was patti smith who called them a 'band of beauties'. either way she dated tom verlaine. similar egon schiele vibe there. you just gotta be into that is all.
but i guess she said that back when richard hell was in the band. sorry i just read 'please kill me'...
That is such an awesome book. I've owned it for 4 years now. Funny, too! I met Richard Lloyd when he played in New Haven and Dick Manitoba who owns his own bar in Manhattan - really cool guy.
i hear a bit of Patti Smith in "In the City" the speeding up rithms, but i recognised the "Venus De Milo" influence on the bas arangement at the begining of "To the Sea" by the way, their first album is a great guitar album but their two second ones are their ego's casualties...
