my 08 4.2L V6 f150 at the drag strip

my 08 V6 f150 at the drag strip. ran a 16.9378@81.66mph i am in the far lane. my headlights are NOT on in this video like it looks. those are my halos. listen at the 26 second mark for my tire screech shifting into 2nd, and i think at the 31 second mark you can hear my tires screeching shifting into 3rd at over 50mph. can you hear it? post a comment if you do.

@benjaminFS3616 hey ben whats up? i got my tuner for my truck last month. it is a nice power increase. with colorado's elevation i lost a bit of power and the tuner pretty much gave it back. cant wait to visit again and go to the track to see what it does now.

@zapityzapzap no, dont go flowmaster. they dont sound good on the 4.2L IMO. plus they actually hurt performance a little. the airflow isnt as straight-thru as you think. go with a magnaflow. it costs a little more but they are stainless steel and guaranteed for life i think. flowmasters are not stainless. plus i think the maggies sound way better on the 4.2L.

@timmypstyle my 02 has a id of 2.25". took the muffler off in favor of a glasspak. if anyone is thinking of doing that i'd recommend a flowmaster, the tone is deeper.

@zapityzapzap the 97-05 4.2s are all the same at 202hp and i think 252Lb-Ft. the 06-08 has 202hp and 260Lb-Ft. also the 06-08's peak hp is at a higher rpm and the peak torque is at a lower rpm. power seems pretty close, ( i have owned an 04 heritage and now have my 08). only differece i really noticed was the engine sound. the 08 sounds better. could also be the exhaust diameter. my 08 is 2.75". my 04 i dont know

@timmypstyle Cool, thanks. I didn't take air resistance into account when I ran the numbers. That could make up the difference in calculations. I think the later model essex's have more torque than the 97-03 run with the same power output. 182 sounds about right though, only losing 10% of the power through the tranny.

@zapityzapzap actually i used one of those calculators to estimate the HP by the 1/4 time and weight and it brought up i think 182 at the wheels, which is more than most get on a dyno. i am a member of f150 online and it seems the 97-03 style is slower for some reason. the day i went i posted a thread for track times. ill check it out and send you a PM. i am pretty sure mine is one of the quicker one tho

The time seems slow when compared to the factory 202hp ratings. The math keeps bringing up around 142hp. Does anyone have the times on a 02 4.2? Wonder if the 500lb weight makes a huge difference.

@timmypstyle lol i JUST realized who this is! jeez. i need sleep. yeah it would be cool if he brought the PT cruiser there too. betcha he would beat some un-suspecting cars. yeah i cant wait to go back. found some stuff for my truck i hope to have on this summer. hood scoops, rear wing, tuner, and i just bought some glow in the dark paint to outline my GT decals. gonna be awesome but gotta wait for it to be a little bit warmer to put it on.
