Advocacy for the much neglected Casiotone 1000p

I thought that, since there isn't much evidence of this synth on YouTube, I'd give it a bit of what I believe young people call a 'big-up'.

The Casiotone (CT)1000p was the company's early attempt at an affordable additive synth. This was 1982, before the Yamaha brought out the DX7. I love the sound of this board. It has a fairly limited repertoire, but a unique sound nevertheless.

I'd like to do justice to the CT1000P in a longer more detailed demo. I may do that some day, if no one else beats me to it.

In this particular clip the CT1000P is being lent some dignity by the delay effect of a Yamaha REX50.

Oh, and these synths go for peanuts on ebay.

How complicated is it to make your own sounds? Is an additive synth more difficult than an older analog one?

This is a very simple but fairly limited synth to edit. You have a choice of 10 'footages', 10 envelope shapes and 10 forms of modulation. You can combine one of each together with often quite surprising results!

Lovely demo, my mates laugh at my love of early Casios, I do myself occasionally : ) but some well chosen effects can wring beauty from these beasties.
