"Mostly Other People Do the Killing" recorded on January 7th, 2012 at Kenny's Castaways at the 2012 NYC Winter Jazz Fest. This is an excerpt of a performance towards the end of their set. "Mostly Other People Do The Killing" (My favorite band name along with "The New Pornographers") is a band of young lions whose modus operandi is to perform jazz pieces digging deeply into the tradition and then venturing well outside into free improvisation. They are powerful and fun. The quartet is lead by bassist Moppa Elliot, and armed with the prodigiously talented Jon Irabagon on alto and tenor sax, Peter Evans on trumpet, and Kevin Shea (obscured in this video, sorry) on drums. Shot from the sweltering balcony at Kenny's Castaways.
