@TheWhisperingPenis So to me it is not all that surprising that there should be a God to put our faith in. And my life would truly be empty without Him. My purpose is wrapped up in His good intentions for my life. I look forward to death instead of dread it. I live every day with a faithful companion at my side who loves me even though I don't deserve it. He adopted me into His family--and since I am adopted I know how precious that is. I could not live with any other belief after knowing God.

@TheWhisperingPenis The reality is that you really don't want to admit to another reality other than the one you have devised for yourself. Most people are like that. In a way, I'm like that too. Literally everyone has a belief--a faith in something that they cannot always put into words, or see with their eyes, or hear, or touch. Even if thousands of years have passed since the world's beginning, that one thing has never changed. Humans alone know of life and death. Humans alone know faith.

@TheWhisperingPenis Ah, but most religions have parallels. God's truth is everywhere, but mankind tainted it with their "fictional" creations. I believe in my God because he is the oldest, the most pervasive, and the most honest of all the religious icons out there. He is so incredibly above what man would have imagined that I can't see how he could have been made up. It's hard for me to explain why I chose God. Maybe it's best to say He chose me.

@lionroar224 God is a fictional character humans invented to explain the origins of our earth. He is no different than the Flying Spaghetti Monster and that is what you don't seem to get. Also GODS have existed throughout the ages, not just one God, and especially not just the Abrahamic God. The only difference between me and you is I believe in one less God than you do, because lets face it, you deny the thousands of Gods throughout history but the one you imagine is true.

What is truly inspiring in a "Good Way" is that God, Creator, Elohim (Hebrew) knows exactly the very core and center of our hearts, i.e. our spirit, soul, and physical body. He needs NO ONE to defend Him (He is a Spirit and His Kingdom is REAL) He is The AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith, existence. One day, ALL will stand before HIS SON JESUS and give an account of their lives on "That Day", i.e. Judgement Day! Better to be SAVED than LOST for all of ETERNITY!

@TheWhisperingPenis But your statement is ludicrous. The spaghetti monster is a fictional thing you invented to prove a point. God has existed throughout the ages. Some of the oldest documents we possess are religious documents. Atheism in its current form was not apparent in any culture, even in the time of the Romans, who were more culturally developed than any before them. The reality is that the world has always had God or a need for Him. Not spaghetti.

@TheWhisperingPenis Well, in my experience this is not the case. True Christians can come from all places--Christian homes, atheistic homes, Muslim homes. But being raised Christian doesn't mean anything in the end. One of my friends was raised in a Catholic church and she absolutely refuses to have anything to do with God now. That's how it is a good percentage of the time, unfortunately. Many of the hardcore atheists I know from my hometown were raised in Christians homes.
