  • Are the roads that bad in the US? Cos i cant see that car doing some offroading

  • That was anti-climatic.

  • Well, its doesn't really have that many applications...yet...but it can... :) Really, its the technology that can become wide spread. E-Flex, as its called, is probably a very flexible system that could, if GM deemed possible, spawn a Hi-Po version of the Volt. The car is built on the Delta II Chassis, which is the underpinnings for the Chevy Cruze and Orlando (both being released in the US within the next 2 years or so), along with others.

  • Ah...I getcha. I didn't know the Volt platform had that many applications. I just thought it would be only a sedan.

  • Why would they need that? The Volt technology most likely can be spread amongst a variety of vehicles, including a sports coupe, and equip it with a high output gas motor, and stronger electric generator, that can produce 400ft.lbs+ of torque. Mind you, if the Cadillac Converj makes it to the market, that is essentially a coupe Volt. And, the tesla pack is close to 1000lbs, while the Volt pack is only 400lbs. Thats 6831 Li-ion cells vs. 220 Li-ion cells. And, there is a gas motor failsafe.

  • GM should at least have a joint venture with Tesla Motors to develop a sport coupe version of the Volt.
