@1stjew You can make a standalone. Everything is with the Dev kit expect a Engine. Halo uses Havok, Call of Duty uses the Quake III Arena Engine, America's Army, and Unreal Tournament uses the Unreal Engine, and the Crysis Series use CryENGINE, etc.. etc.. etc... So, overall if you were to buy one all that you would be lacking is a Engine, and a Base Language. Try XNA before stepping up to Dev Kits.

@MonsterGrunt So lets say i buy this from you. What else would i need to make a xbox game? Like which software, cables , hardware etc? Then will i be able to make a xbox standalone that can run from DVD?

@1stjew I used to do multiplayer development for a game company a few years go, both on 360 and Original Xbox's. This System doesn't make the game, it allows you to test your current build, and make changes if needed, and to take screen shots, trailers, and so on. I have used to make games alone, and worked very well, but I just lost interest in making games. In other words.. Yes, with the proper knowledge that can build games.

@MonsterGrunt If it is true what you say why dont you make games and become rich?
I see lots of ripp of selling their xbox dev kits on youtube. Why? Cause they cannot make xbox games and sell them?
I think Unity3D is a lot more realistic game making tool. You can create games and export them directly from your PC to: PSP, ANDROID, IPHONE, Wii, XBOX360, PS3, HTML, PC, MAC.
Tell me the truth with this thing can you make a game or not? If yes then you would be a very rich guy.

The Xbox Development Kit (XDK) is a software development kit created by Microsoft used to write software for the Xbox gaming system. The XDK includes libraries, a compiler, and various tools used to create software for the Xbox. The XDK also includes a tool to record in-game footage, which has been widely used to create high-quality screenshots and trailers.

can someone explain a Dev kit for me
Do you absolutely need the Dev kit console to make xex binaries? or is it possible to use a cross compiler to make XEXes for JTAGs? (not libxenon)

@ZouloumOSX No, you do not need a XDK or make XeX Binaries. Although, it makes it a lot easier. I would say it is possible to use a compiler, but because I used XDK's I never really got involved in JTags, but I'm sure anything is possible. Now since I work as a computer security expert(Ethical Hacker) I don't do much work with Xbox's anymore. So, I'm sorry I can't give you a solid answer on that, but anything is possible with computers, and even more possible with a JTag!
