Fun in the Cub

Spent an hour and a half in the air with my CFI working on all sorts of maneuvers and skills. Stalls, slow flight, steep turns, short/soft field takeoffs and landings, go arounds, pilotage, you name it. A good afternoon spent brushing up on my skills along with some new things thrown in for good measure.

Then we had way too much fun practicing some spins as well. All maneuvers were of the non-aerobatic variety, so that's why they are permissible per FARs 91.303 and 91.307. Spin training is required for the CFI rating and that's something I hope to achieve in the future, and the wingovers were in fact just a demonstration of the effect of engine torque in a climbing, power-on stall configuration.

I just don't think you can have more fun for the dollar in flying than in the Cub. It's vintage aviation, pure and simple.

ive been wanting to go to waynesville to take a cub lesson. ive got 50 hours in tricycle gear but really want to fly a taildragger. How much did you pay for that 1.5 hour flight with and instructor. Definately Plan to fly down to waynesville and take a cub lesson this summer!

@76sundowner The 65 hp Cub currently rents for $58/hr wet and 85 hp Cub is $63/hr. Instructors are $32/hr.

Hope you can make it down - there's nothing more fun than a Cub with the door open on a warm summer day!
