  • @huntinforit We need to bring more people into this dialog. I agree with you, change is needed. I believe many in the community will admit this in private. Not sure how many have the guts to do something about it. Maybe Mr. Spina should hold some town hall events. I'm sure I can help rally some people to participate.

  • I drove around the square and counted over 125 of the decorative St. Lights burned out or not working. That is some great city government!!!!! PLEASE HELP OUR TOWN.

  • @huntinforit Regarding the street lights, yes, this is a terrible reflection on the current attitude of local leadership. An electrician friend tells me the current street lamps could be easily fixed by simply drilling a small hole in the bottoms of the globe. This hole would allow heat to escape and keep bulbs burning longer.

  • @huntinforit Change is good.

  • @huntinforit Change scares everyone. The community needs a positive change.

  • @huntinforit I agree Martinsville needs progressive leadership.

  • This great city is being kept in the (Dark Ages) by the Prehistoric politicians that run the city at face value and , behind closed doors. These politicians have a voter base that currently puts them back in office term after term. If that base is allowed to grow or change, it threatens their ability to win an election. The choice to manipulate these elections is an easy one for the incumbents. No remorse is shown to the people for these actions ever. Martinsville needs a younger Mayor ASAP.

  • @creoquality..Take an honest look at Martinsville and you will quickly see that it is badly dated. The town has had the same two mayors for almost 24 years and they are more interested in feuding with each other than having a nice town. Our children can't even make enough money to live here unless they work in Indianapolis. So sad!! We need sweeping change. The nepotism is rampant.

  • I'm from Martinsville, left in 04' when things started to go wrong there, with all the trash that moved in and druggies got worse. They fucked that town up. I miss it from time to time, but the way the town USE to be, was better, quiet, all you really had was boozers, not meth heads and crack faces. I wish my town was still what it was when I was a kid, now it just sucks

  • blame on wal-mart for killed many businesses

  • If everyone remembers right, the price was high and the quality low when the street lights went in. The current mayor complained and had the contractor come back and repair them for things like "pealing paint" "lights burning out to fast" and "poor installation" its a problem that has existed with their introduction. Both Mayors we have had "remain silent" when confronted by the SPL center, ignor anything iside the "good ol boy network" and are in serious need of removal.

  • Martinsville is being ran from the nursing homes!!

  • Martinsville is the most difficult place to do business that I have knowledge of. The cronyism and nepotism run deep here. At all cost the town must elect an outsider to break up this cozy arrangement. Have you ever seen as many incumbents run for office unapposed. That has hidden meaning!!!! Any decent challenger has been warned!!!! Just leave things as they are, is the message!!! If you cant understand that then you will feel their wrath!!!!!!!!!!

  • @creoquality...John..I really admire your effort to make a change. You are a breath of fresh air!

  • @creoquality...Are you getting involved in the election? If so, what are you hearing?
