Product Description
From the moment he shot on to the big screen as Alex in A Clockwork Orange, eye lash, bowler hat and cocky swagger, Malcolm McDowell was destined for legendary status. In a career that now stretches 40 years McDowell has proved to be one of the most daring, dynamic, controversial and powerful film actors of all time; he has shocked more people than any other performer, knows no limits and has no fears. From his demented performance in the infamous Caligula, the schoolboy rebel in If..., the insane mobster in Gangster No.1 to the demonic killer in Evilenko, Malcolm has lasted in the film business as a survivor, Hollywoods' head honcho British villain and one of the busiest working actors today. In Malcolm McDowell: On Screen, Chris Wade examines why the man is so important to the history of film making, exploring his genius with film reviews, revealing facts and an exclusive interview with his son Charlie. Wade hopes to bring attention not only to his early iconic roles but also his more obscure, overlooked work, some of which is excellent. In the past there have been books on Malcolm's two mentors, Stanley Kubrick and Lindsay Anderson, but never one on McDowell himself; until now of course. Malcolm McDowell: On Screen is a riveting look into the mind and career of one of the true British greats.

  • That one person who disliked this?

    That's the interviewer.

  • Something that kind of bothered me about the Clockwork Orange story (book and movie) was

1.) Alex was raping..and I still found him sexy. Damnet Malcolm! :P

2.) this is the serious reason: he was a criminal and I felt sorry for his character at the end. Alex was violent and took fancy to raping, but I fell in love with his charm. I wanted justice for this criminal. And that bothered me. And that made me think. That is why this story is dangerous.

  • All over YouTube, people just don't seem to love talking about the content of a video. It is always about McDowell's good looks (a fan thing), or who's the idiot and who's the smart one. Okay, I guess the latter is a good way of summarizing the interview in short words.

Why not just talk about how religiously-closed the public circle is, while people in the film business who were lucky to be a part of Kubrick's films appreciate the compositions and they think that way in an open-minded sense.

  • He is the single greatest interviewee of all time, his responses are brilliantly clever

  • I love how Mcdowell just comes out with awesome "Fuck you" lines through out the interview.

  • @weirdfishing I always ask myself that same question.

  • Dude, maybe I was only 3 when this video was made, but GOD is he hot here. And yes, that interviewer IS a huge douchebag.

  • Why do interviewers always feel the need to argue with the actor? This guy an insult to Malcolm's intelligence...

  • Does the interviewer realize that CLOCKWORK ORANGE wasn't a documentary?

  • It's like he is talking to Alex

  • I really can't stand the fact that that twat popinjay of an interview gets the last word in this cut of the video, seriously fuck him in the face. So glad I wasn't around in these close-minded times

  • his natural hair color is dirty blonde! so is mine except it's getting darker now at my age 16
