The city of Ocoee imploded a landmark hotel that fell into disrepair many years after it housed the first local headquarters for Disney when the corporation started to develop plans for its theme park.
For the history books, the Colony Plaza was originally a Ramada Inn built by a group from Detroit. It was constructed one year before Disney announced their move to Central Florida, probably because someone figured out what Disney was up to.
Everything was very secretive. Disney folks came to town and used the hotel as a headquarters for several months.
Imposions make people happy!
Great early morning fun!
