It hurts to watch that. I would give anything to play in an on campus stadium again. Heinz field sucks. Parking is an issue though. They should have a train that picks up fans and drop them off at the stadium.
I'm a Minnesota fan and for all of the problems with Memorial Stadium and the parking situation on campus, it's pretty much unanimous that the move off campus provided a brief 3 or 4 year bounce while the Metrodome was new and then severely damaged the program thereafter. The move back to a new a on campus stadium in 2009 was considered a big victory. I think Pitt football will see a similar pattern emerge as time passes and will long to return to campus from Heinz Field.
Pitt Stadium was legendary. However, parking was a serious issue. And, due to that, the tailgating and pregame and postgame atmospheres weren't nearly as good as at many other stadiums.
Watching Marshall Goldberg capture the "Spirit of Pitt Stadium" in that wooden chest as 60,000 fans screamed and cheered was actually an emotionally moving moment. Those two idiots just missed the boat completely. "It's air!"
It was "Capturing the Spirit" actually is what they called it. Corny ...but not what they said either. The Reporter is kind of missing info on that. Also "Some man" is actually PITT running great Marshall Goldberg...but hey it was "some man".
NO COLLEGE ATMOSPHERE AT HEINZ FIELD!! THEY SCREWED UP TEARING PITT STADIUM DOWN!!

They should have refurbished Pitt Stadium instead of tearing it down.
