  • Whats the red cable that appears on the landrover at around 6 mins in?

  • @gerv55 It's a tow strap attached to the front towing eye, and pulled back and tied to the roof bars. Much easier to use if you get stuck in water, and don't want to paddle and grovel in water to connect the tow strap

  • @disturbed1965 Makes sense. Looking into one of these but the reviews seemed pretty varied, a couple complain that the power steering is too heavy when at low speeds, then again the fifth gear review of the freelander 2 states that the steering is "still" too light which seems to indicate the steering in the original is pretty light (which id prefer).

Any issues with wind noise or engine noise (assuming its a diesel from the vid) and how do you find the steering when manouvering?

  • @gerv55 Mines a FL1, I've had it from new, and have done over 79,000 miles. I think it is great, and it has had quite a battering over the years as you can from my videos, but it is still just like new. It is a bit noisier than an ordinary saloon, but mine is the 3 door which is noisier than the 5 due to the roof. It isn't uncomfortably noisy. I have no complaints about steering weight.

  • Glad to see I'm not the only one to take a freelander to play in the mud. People just don't realise how good they are

  • this is the best freelander off road video i have seen, this video showly proves that freelanders are a capable off roader. i own one myself and the amount of piss takes i get from people saying that freelanders cant go off road.

  • @disturbed4x4 What tires did you use? It is really wet and muddy and for my experience with freelander made all the difference!

  • you guys are mad thats a 04 plate for heavens sake

  • I'm surprised you got that far, Freelander warranty is VOID if you take it off road...
