Yolanda Martinez-Buffalo Cries

The Lakota have a saying, "The most woeful sound you'll here is a Buffalo crying for her calf lost in the herd. Yolanda then takes it to the lost Children, the lost Souls although Yolanda is an optomist and ends the song with the Calf coming to the Mother, the lost child being found and the lost soul coming home to his family. Like the Native People of this land the Buffalo is strong and coming back.

I videotaped Yolanda at the Williamsburg Virginia Pow Wow in 1997, and so loved her music, that I got her permission to add several of her wonderful songs to the audio track. Two of her performing, and two others to open and close the video. Its one of my cherished memories of that Pow Wow. We showed it on the local public TV station back then. Love you Yolanda! -Les
