HINCKLEY felt so emasculated, for not being a PIONEER, himself, that he--over the years--had to find some way of "making himself into" some kind of so-called "pioneer".

Gordon became the KING OF PR SPIN, within the Church: and self-proclaimed PIONEER of it! (He said, on more than one occasion, that he "pioneered the church's public relations dept". Yes, indeed, you emasculated little bunny, Gordon!

And if being a PIONEER wasn't enough, he often used his persecution complex to play the VICTIM.

@alimayrose Yes, a "loving church with loving people". I remember back when Hitler was "storm-trooping" his way across Europe. I remember seeing those huge 16mm newsreels, of old tape footage, from deep inside The Third Reich. I have a military scrapbook, from that era, too; and, the photos STILL astound me: Hitler had his "Core Membership" [of the 3rd Reich], who faithfully attended his rallies, in every large German city: 200,000 strong! Of upper-middle class "followers" of THAT cult, too!

@USAConservative2012 When you speak of the LDS Church as a "cult", you are right, in the definition that we, ourselves, used, back in the 1950s. We used to call each of them "a cult of personality": because it is about the "who" (viz., Joseph Smith), instead of about the "what".
