Sam Johnson: This is America! We do not force people to hand over their hard earned money to a private company.

Today U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson (3rd Dist.-Texas) took to the House floor to support the Lone Star State lawsuit to stop the unprecedented government expansion into healthcare and to advocate personal responsibility and self reliance.

Johnson represents portions of Dallas and Collin Counties.

Texas is one of 14 states filing a lawsuit challenging the federal requirement to purchase health insurance as part of the new healthcare law. This is America! We do not force people to hand over their hard earned money to a private company against their will. Thats the ultimate overreach of federal power and its unconstitutional.

Im also upset by the fact that this healthcare law creates one more government hand out. By pushing more and more people into a government-controlled healthcare plan, were going to reach a point where more Americans depend on the government for help than those who get along by themselves. Thats not right. Americans want, need and deserve prosperity and success achieved by sacrifice, hard work, self reliance and personal responsibility.

Its called the American Dream.

  • So easy to hide behind objects of concern by people who lived 200 years ago before unionization, big business, The little guy has no recourse anymore. Republicans preach Small Government because THEY don't want to help the little guy anymore. Sam Johnson is in a plush situation where he gets the best health care payed for by me. He is getting government organized health care, why can't I?
