The Youngbloods was an American folk rock band consisting of Jesse Colin Young (Vocals, bass), Jerry Corbitt (lead guitar), Lowell Levinger (rhythm guitar), and Joe Bauer (drums). Despite receiving critical acclaim, they never achieved widespread popularity. Their only U.S. Top 40 entry was "Get Together".
@pnwoods -- actually, ummm... you're right! (thx for correcting my faulty recollection... of El Camino Del Mar, apparently) It happens I drove Sir Francis Drake for the first time a few months ago, to attend the Healdsburg Guitar Festival in Santa Rosa. But I swear, it was like I said, around Lands End, in my mind anyway. Blame it on my state of mind, either now, or then. ;)
ah, the stuff what dreams are made of.

@amusia007 fyi--
actually, Sir Francis Drake Blvd. runs from San Rafael (Bay) up through Fairfax, Lagunitas, out past Tomales Bay, & Hwy. 1, all the way out to Drake's Bay.
A sparkling autumn afternoon, -- minimal traffic encountered in 1967-68, -- a BSA or Triumph, -- perhaps some real orange sunshine, -- -- and you have just such an experience described in song.

fyi - Sir Francis Drake is the name of a street that winds around the northwest part of San Francisco, from down near Cliff House up to the Palace of the Legion of Honor (home of the Thinker)... I just had to drive it while playing this song!
Elephant Mountain - great album.. some nice jazzy stuff mixed in with the folk-rock.

Yes, this is from Elephant Mountain, not the album pictured.
But who cares? More Youngbloods on Youtube!

Always wondered what this song sounded like, as it's such a great title. Loved it! Thanks much for posting.
