my tabby giving me a cat bath

This is a stray I took in a while ago. She seems like she's in a coma or something in the first half. Then she wakes up and has an urge to give me little kitty bath. She actually does this pretty often. Though it's smelly, I appreciate her sentiments.

You'd mentioned her breath was smelly and the vet said it was just gingivitis. Did your vet check for bartonella? We took in a stray that had really bad breath and had swollen gums and such. The vet said it looked like classic bartonella and had a blood test, from one to four, he had 4+, pretty bad. Three weeks of kitty amoxycillin and he was good. Just needs some dental work now.

@kingttx I'm not sure anymore. It has been a few years since I've had her. Though I trust she is in good hands with her current owner. He loves her to smithereens. I trust he's taken care of her. =)

haha, she wasn't pregnant at the time. she was close to being in heat though. But now it seems ages ago. She's now taken in by someone else.

It's like in a lion's pride. They lick you saying you're family to rub their scent on you, since your petting hands are doing the same. "You're my pride, I'm your pride. I luv you."

Your cat was dozing while you petted her, and returned your affection by grooming and licking you. This is affection from a cat. Doesn't have to be pregnant or in heat to act this way.

I'm glad you took such a beautiful kitty off the streets! Cats are funny....I love when my kitty decides to lick me, I find it unusually pleasant. Mine does not do it quite like that....she might give you a lick, and then she leaves. And what do you mean by smelly? I know some cats have bad breath....which means you ought to take her to see a vet (though in this case the NEW owner should take her to the vet for dental care, since you don't have her anymore) :)

my cat used to do that and still does sometimes, also when i try to take my hand away she gets mad meows and bites my hand until i let her lick me again. Chedr is one silly kitty
