Hey man, I'm really want to get into Calarts, I'm just wondering, if you want to get in an animation class, do you need to provide animation examples, or just art?

Well if you want to apply for Character Animation, you're gonna want a portfolio with a lot of life drawings. Sending in your animation is definitely a good thing to do though, thats probably what got me in. I made a dialogue test over a summer and submitted that as well. If you can, going to calarts and sitting in on life drawing classes is probably the best way to make a great portfolio. So I would submit life drawings and a sketchbook; and some animation is a plus.
