if these guys had been at The Legendary Torch they would have given Frank Booper, Matchy and a few others a run for their money!!!!

The difference between (ELEANOR POWELL) & Fred Astaire & Gene Kelly & Cyd Charisse is the same as the difference between (ELVIS PRESLEY) & (TOM JONES.

Not really knowing" 'What I was remembering! During the search I saw (HOLLAND & DOZIER)! That somehow Ring a Bell. Sounds like the "SOUND" I was trying to remember! I saw the name (EDDIE HOLLAND). i BELIEVE THAT'S HIM, short search now! Read his history, then found this song! and "BINGO" THANKS

Oh shit! That's some fine dancing! This is almost breakdancing at times, 20 years before hip-hop!

Superb dancing is seamless to great sounds and vice versa. It was and remains very difficult for some to actually grab on to the depth and breadth of the NS scene, that was and remains its unique difference to all genres of music/style - you get it, fond welcome in - you don't, best you just go on home! It was and remains that wonderfully simple in its fabulous social complexity!

Love this tune! HDH at their most soulful! Thanks

Heard this for the first time in years at a "Northern do" the other night. It brought back memories of Bonnie Pickering who i was dating at the time! Where are you Bonnie i miss you and that fire side rug ;0)

Tap style is the closest form to Northern Soul dancing. I believe it works very well as a video/sound marriage. If these are not to your taste the original format is in abundance on the tube. I have uploaded several Nicholas Brothers in original genre. Type docludi2 into the search box. As a by the by, I believe the 'tap' sound was usually overdubbed at the editing stage on these old films. Doc.

Cover songs on other dance routines can somtimes work well, but much of the charm of tap dancing is the "tap" sound. Great dance routine, but the cover song gets in the way.

The Nicholas Brothers TV performance in 1964 (Fayard would have been 50 and Harold 43 years old at the time) cut to Eddie Holland's great 1964 song "Just ain't enough love".
For those unfamiliar, Eddie Holland was the lyricist brother of Brian, along with fellow composer Lamont Dozier in the formidable Motown songsmith trio Holland Dozier Holland.
