Canon's Mac OSX scanning software for their awesome little "all in one" Pixma 610, "MP Navigator EX", is simple, delivers darn decent quality, and has some nice features... but doesn't always scan when you tell it to. Which is a real shame.

  • I'm glad I found this as I too have fought with this "quirk" for some time. It's a nice little scanner (the ADF document feeder works great) but you have to play this little game of hitting the green scan button up to some 20 times before it takes.

I just loaded the new software update but that did nothing to fix the problem.

Appreciate Studio108's comment that the answer is in the user guide but i have read through the user guide and see nothing.

Back to the green button game now..............

  • Is that a complaint or a review?

  • I have a Canon LiDe 110 with MP Navigator 4.0 Mac OsX 10.6 (as of June 2011). It scans once then hangs 100% of the time. My solution was to use Image Capture, an application that came with the MAC. Just install the drivers. MP Navigator has very smart features though, useable in Windows 7. My other solution was use Parallels and use the scanner in virtual Windows 7.

  • MP NAvigator is one of the worst pieces of software I have ever installed on my Mac. Not only is it buggy but I get constant crashes by simply trying to SAVE a document using both the buttons on the top of the device or the MP Nav software.. Canon has a very poor download site that does not help users find the latest version of the software that they need or install the required drivers... it truly is a crap shoot. I'm going back to HP

  • I wonder if there's a required 'reset time interval' or delay between scanning and re-scanning, and they left it out of their software - thus the problems with re-triggering a scan.

But that's just a guess. Thanks for the video - MP Navigator is poorly documented, even this much helps some.

  • Unbelievably terrible software -- I just set up the printer, and it worked great with OSX's built in Capture software. Installed this disastrous software to see if it could add anything, and I'm just in disbelief. Besides the completely un-intuitive and buggy interface, it just LOOKS like a Microsoft Powerpoint template from the 80s. ONE CLICK should mean ONE CLICK and everything automatic - not one click and then decide on the 6 different types of possible documents. Awful, awful design.

  • how the hell do you get your scanned image from the stupid software into word. This is ridiculous
