Luv these bikes! They're not perfect but for $1750 out of the crate in 84', who cares! I was stationed @ Ft. Hood in 84' when I bought mine and read an article in Cycle World Magazine afterward that said the Vision was faster than the fastest 550, inline four, which was the KZ550. They clocked the Vision @ 12.83 in the quarter and also compared its comfort to the beemers of the time. So, not a bad bike for any money, really. Be careful Maddhater, the bike can be deceptively powerful - go easy.

Im 15 and wanted a motorcycle when i got older but about a week ago my dad got 1 uv these free.
cosmetically its ok, some scratches around the ignition, and some rust on the front of the tank but inside its pretty botched. Grime and rust eating up the gas tank, leaking antifreeze, front turn signals light up but dont blink and 2 flats. Got my work cut out 4 me but il get this bike running.

I bought a brand new Vision in 1982 . It was the same color red as you have here. However, at high speeds, the front wheel would wobble and shake violently. At that time, the carburetor from the factory was set too lean (in an effort to reduce emissions I was told) . I always enjoyed it, as it had excellent acceleration. After having too many close calls with car drivers who think that motorcyclists are expendable, I decided to sell the bike in 1987. I bought it brand new for.....$1,600.00!
Glad to hear from ya, Bandit! and God bless you for the service to our country!!

sounds about like how I got mine, maddhater!! You'll love it.. and you'll know it from the inside out.. Gotta clean the carbs,, really well, change out the rear brake stabilizer bar bolts, they tend to break.. not good. Good luck with your bike and let me know If I can help!! Have you found "Riders of Vision" website? They're great folks and have lots of knowledge on their site...

already registered on the site. Spent $90 on it today. fix-a-flat on the back tire until i can snoop around a junkyard, seafoam took out a lot of the corrosion in the tank, replaced the sparkplugs and the fuses, took of the faceplate and rewired some lighting cords, seemed to fix the signals. took 11 hours, 7 trips to walmart and a few runs to Oriley autoparts but got it to run today. parents flipped, they figured id let it collect dust. just need a helmet and il take it out of the tool shed.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Im proud of ya! Now, be real careful with it until you get some good tires! Replace those bolts on the rear brake stabilizer bar.. You can find the part number for your bike.. and put it into google,, its only a few bucks and could save your life..

Its a pretty nice bike, got it dialed in ok,, still have more to go.. gonna fair it and make a cold weather bike out of it.. I uncapped the mixture screws and resolved that EPA problem. Did it on my Virago too.. They have an actual engine in them when you undo the factory stuff!!! LOL
