Night and Day with Annotations

My good friend Pianistitaliano has uploaded not one but TWO versions of this song so I felt I should at least give it a try. In order to offer some additional value I decided to annotate it as best I could in the style of Jazz2511 (nobody does it as well as Doug).

I love the suspended arpeggios of doom at 1:10! There are some great quartal and pentatonic things in some other spots as well. It sounds like you think of yourself as post-bop rather than bebop.

I noticed you tend to only use your index, middle, and ring finger when soloing in your right hand, is this a much easier way to enhance technique?

Wonderful phrasing! I always thought that 7notemode has the advanced harmonies, jazz2511 has the academic skills to teach, and you have the impeccable gift of phrasing, melodic invention! It would be a dream of mine and I'm sure countless others on youtube if all three of you got together for a concert and posted it on Youtube!

@1979saxman Thanks so much for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. My fingering technique is a result of my being self-taught and never studying classical piano. It does limit me to some extent, but then again, it is what probably helps in giving me my own sound.

I would love to travel to Australia for a get together with Jazz2511!
