The original, unedited and unsanitized version of the WDW attraction. It's painfully dark, but does include the talking skull before the drop, the original Chase Scene and an extensive look at the Treasure Room Scene right before Unload.

Guardian, you are right about that eye in the skull. I'd have to double check my photos but it seems like the other eye socket was covered by a patch.

I completely agree - I remember the "old" version and definitely prefer it to the newer. Couldn't agree more!

@widenyourworld I can remember the skull having 2 eyes in the sockets and then years later having an eyepatch covering the other one.

Maybe my imagination is playing tricks but as a little kid back in the 80's I remember being totally freaked out by that talking skull because at one time (I could swear) it used to have an eyeball in the skull that looked at the people in the boats as it went by. Maybe not.

One improvement that the new version has is better audio when the ship is firing on the fort. The old version had cannons that sounded like steam escaping while the new version has an almost deafening roar of cannon fire. As far as the rest, to each his own.

idk, I really do enjoy the new characters in the ride; I personally think they fit rather well. the only part about the overhaul that I HATE is the removing of the talking skull before the waterfall... that was always one of my favorite parts!!

anyway, I do think that the story of the ride is much better now than before and it also has a much broader audience appeal, which helps the old characters as well as the new.

wow! bad fashion alert!!! XD!!! i miss the old ride!!! i wish they keep the old ride, and added the new one instead of taking away the old one!
