Full house of launching mistakes. Not committed enough run, flops into harness instead of waiting for glider to come up, and lets the bar pop out when changing to base bar (probably as a result of rushing the change) so that the glider stalls. It probably would have been recoverable with the first two, and just lose height off launch as a result But once the wing's stalled, there's no roll control and you're screwed. Was this a tow-trained pilot who's new to hill-launching?

Luckily the ground was there to break his fall.

thank god he landed in that giant crater. hHAHAHAHAHAHA

...pilot pushed that bar way out during run...too slow, stalled, and could not
then control glider - wind controlled it instead. gotta stayed 'pulled in'
to accelerate to flying speed.'
-
Looks like the glider wasn't ready to fly yet. Nice video

Hey thanks for posting, gives us more to learn. Thanks great to hear you were fine and no wires there to zap you.
-
What was the damage to your glider?
-
hmm...don't get blown back into launch
area! especially if you balloon up and
backward into the wires...the ZAP! kind.
-
Also that place does not look safe to glide with those electrical wires you can get cook like a bird!

Good point with the hill vs. towing....I see nowdays nearly every pilot where I am learns by tow, and they;re always amazed to see one of us that started on hills with the launch.
Victoria, Aussie pilot here saying howdy to my former American buddies!!
Well just so ease a few concerns there are no wires, its a radio Mast, so I guess the radiation would be worse then the wires, lucky no one was hurt and a few lessons learned.
