  • Saw him LEVITATE THE FILLMORE EAST/sweltering summer 1969/nobody could touch him...almost unbearable to watch perform-no one like him before or since/kids-you will never know....

  • Listening to this on a rainy, cold, spring afternoon. What a great musician. Gives me chills.

  • Miles Davis is far superior

  • Of course he was a ladies man. Ladies are very much drawn to shy and enigmatic men. They think they can fix 'em. LOL

Earlier stuff is good, but I've recently discovered a gem that I've played hundreds of times, which is from 1973.

    Because of You.

It's marked the end of my maudlin phase.

  • @andrew19vato Yea his earlier stuff is my fave. Janie, and all of Star Sailor album as was his favorite was his fave at the time I knew him. He was pretty young then and said he really liked "Vagabond" the most off that album. He was shy then looked down when he talked. Told me I was a lovely purple lady one night when I was wearing all purple.

  • @darkgarden22 shy at times?? iv'e ever heard that he was a true ladies man haha! what are your favourite songs of his? I gotta say I preffer his earlier stuff, of all his album's happy sad is my favourite

  • @darkgarden22 That was sang not sand.lol

  • @andrew19vato

Oh yes I saw him hundreds of times literally!

He sang often with his eyes closed because he was so intense a performer.Sometimes he would make funny smart ass comments between songs. He seemed shy at times but alwyays sand with his soul.

  • Can you re-record this tune? There is too much bottom end rumble. You can't hear the wonderful guitar work and the bass is all muddy.

  • @darkgarden22 did you see him perform live many time's? I would give anything just to see him live once!

  • In the late 60's Barneys Beanery in Los Angeles was famous for their apple pie and ice cream. His manager Herb Cohen and the singer Odetta were with us on one occasion.

  • @andrew19vato

we dated off and on for a few years. He was always hanging at The Troubadour and I would meet him there. Sometimes go to his place in Venice. He spent a bit of time in New York at The Chelsea Hotel .
