My video of Tips for Buying a Used CDMA (Verizon, Sprint) Cell Phone.

So pretty much this video says a couple tips when buying a CDMA phone which are phones that don't use SIM Cards. GSM phones are phones that use SIM Card (T-Mobile, AT&T/Cingular) CDMA (Verizon, Sprint). So when buying best is to check ESN/MEID/HEX which are numbers and letters on the back of the phone behind the battery ranging from 8 - 17 letters and digits. What you want to do is call 611 on your phone and chose to talk with a representative (your name & last 4 digits of SS will be mostly required). Then give them the ESN/MEID/HEX and the will check it and let you know. After check of most primary functions are fully working on the phone.

Also if you don't want to call or go online, just go to your local Verizon Wireless or Sprint store to let them check and activate right then and there. Account holder must be present though.

You can also activate the phone by calling 611 also. Takes approx 5 - 15 Min. Or log onto My Verizon and you can also activate through there would take less time and be a less hassle. Sprint and other CDMA carriers not sure of but mostly similar.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to let me know.

Thanks For Viewing!

  • Have u heard of the site call, cdma work shop

  • @Cblackman90 Hmm nope never heard about it! Not sure if it would work either and seems a bit risky. As for myself I wouldn't really try it or really recommend it, but haven't tried it so not saying it's bad either. More than likely though it contains a virus as some say it contains Trojans but idk about that.

  • How to change the meid #

  • @Cblackman90 It would take a lot to change that! And for me there is technically no way unless you really have the knowledge of altering the devices that are linked into the Carrier's system.

  • If the phone is reported lost or stolen will the phone be able to be activated?

  • @FR0STEDFLAKE5 Nope you will Not be able to activate the phone if reported lost/stolen unless the original owner calls in to clear if off.

  • @mesias886 Hi, as far as I know changing the MEID/ESN is somewhat complicated because you would need to have change the internals of the phone too as Verizon would know what phone you're activating. So giving them a clean ESN on a BAD ESN phone won't make a difference unless you switch the internals or reprogram the phone with that Clean ESN. Hope this helps! Not Recommended though!

  • I have question i fund i phone 4 for Verizon i waned to connect but they said the phone was reported stolen so i cant activate there is any way i can change the MEID # So i can connect the phone pls any one can help email mi thank you

  • @dcmanager23 I'm not so sure about Tracfones since I've never really heard anybody flash them to other networks. It might not work for switching that LG to Verizon as Verizon doesn't really do that, but give them a call and ask as they might do it, or maybe some smaller cell shops that do flashing services might be able to help. Sorry I can't help you.

  • @JokerVBA Yes it doesn't matter if you're in a Contract or not, as long as the HTC Thunderbolt you're buying is made for Verizon and has a Clean ESN you can take it to your local Verizon shop to let them activate it or other methods I have mentioned here.
