Gameplay from Popeye playing on an Atari 2600 VCS retro games console. Retro gaming.

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's simply a quick demonstration of the game so that anyone not familiar with these old games can see what it looks like.

Any opinions or comments I make regarding these games should largely be taken with a pinch of salt.
They are usually based on my first impressions after a very brief play.

  • Is that a Rottweiler barking?

  • That's Bailey. We suspect he's a bloodhound/retriever cross. He's huge, loud, and stupid.

  • Yeah, compared with some arcade conversions on the system, it's not bad at all.

  • Man I killed @ this game in the 80's! THis theme music just pop in my head and I started whistling it then I said wait that's Popeye! Makes me wanna cry. :) Thanx for the upload!

  • @SteveBenway i know it has been forever since you posted this, but yes there are 3 different bords on this game. this was one of my favorite games for the atari 2600 when i was a kid!!!

  • Yes, the next level is different, there are about 3. I have this for the 800XL. Great game.

  • Really loved this game on the NES. Still do actually.

  • hey Bluto looks like a old cash register with legs or that typewriter guy on classic sesame street (B....BLUTO)

  • There is a Atari 5200 and coleco version as well. Besides the characters being colorless, I think Bluto looks better on the 2600 then the 5200 version. On the 5200 Blutos face looks like the number 5!
