Danzas Cubanas by Robert Sheldon performed by the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Peter Martin. November 17th 2011 at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland ME. I was the trombone soloist, and I know I screwed up, so please don't give me crap for it. This piece was played at the end of the concert, which started directly after the dress rehearsal for the orchestra. I got the first part of the solo fine, but then looked up at the audience, lost something from my playing and my volume and embouchure died from there. It is not easy to fill a room that large with a good sound. I had played the solo perfectly times before, at a lower volume of course. It is unfortunate it turned out the way it did. Anyway, the band as a whole was fantastic and my buddy Carter on the trumpet did an awesome job with his solo. Its a hard piece, grade 4 1/2.
