Most people don't warm up with weights or pre workout stretches. While it is important to stretch, it is also quite important to perform a warm up set before you hit the weights rack. So what is the difference between a regular set and a warm up set?
A warm up set is performed with a lot less weight and higher reps. Many trainers don't even use a weight, and just utilize the warm up set to over-perform the movement of the exercise (i.e. Bench press, Squat, Deadlift, etc).
This reduces the risk of injury by a massive percentage and also increases your potential for the upcoming workout by warming up your muscles correctly. A warm up and cool down are very important parts of any serious gym user's workout session.
