Newspaper uses ink & it's not good for birds to chew or suck on. It's definately not good for them to eat.
Newspaper is ok to use on the bottom of the cage where the bird can't get to it. It's ok if they chew on it very briefly but it should not be the only paper product they chew on.
Newsprint is not good for birds because of the ink. Look at your fingers after you flip through a newspaper, they're usually black. That's not good for birds. It's just not.
Hi, no not paper. We don't like the newsprint on it. It's not good for them but they get Planet Pleasures Shredders & birdy bagels which are pressed paper.
We also make our own toys. They both get lots of different types of toys with different textures on them; softwoods, palm leaves, coconut, corn cob husks, sisal rope and more.
Actually, we did a few years ago & it was pretty funny. There was sheer pandemonium here. They were all terrified of it. LOL Nobody would go anywhere near it.
Oh always! It scares the heck out of me but she's clipped. Given a good wind & a good scare, any bird will fly for a bit. You always have to be mindful of that.
In this case she won't with the rain coming down & there's a big wall around our outside deck. She'd need to get a good height before she got any distance. They usually fly straight across not up & she'd have to go up over the wall first.
Have you tried buying the peacock feathers that are sold at petsmart (and other places, probably)? They're specifically for birds that pluck. My tiel doesn't, but I bought one for him anyways, and he loves it. He even sings to it. lol
