I remember reading about this once and talking to a GM about it. After a certain time period, shortly before the removal of Mistmoore completely, a GM would control him as the raid event. It was a specific GM too and I can't remember his name, this may have just been on The Nameless though. I'm also fairly sure he was removed before he was killed, but I swear for the life of me I remember it being because that GM died or something and they wanted him to be the only person to control the guy, or he just didn't want to anymore, think that was it.
