Eva Cassidy - Songbird (Fleetwood Mac)

"Songbird" è un brano dei "Fleetwood Mac" contenuto nel disco "Rumours" del 1977, il maggiore successo commerciale del gruppo. Il brano è stato scritto dalla tastierista e cantante del gruppo Christine McVie.
L'originale dei "Fleetwood Mac" è una ballata pianistica, Eva Cassidy la personalizza modificandone il testo e proponendola secondo il proprio stile: voce e chitarra acustica (come si vede nella bella foto di copertina del disco) più il supporto del proprio gruppo.
La versione di Eva Cassidy è contenuta nel disco "Eva By Heart" del 1997, il primo disco pubblicato dopo la sua morte, di fatto il primo di una serie di dischi-raccolta di materiale inedito postumi della cantautrice americana pubblicati dalla "Blix Street Records". Il disco in origine era stato edito dalla "Liaison Records" ed è l'unico album di studio a nome "Eva Cassidy". Successivamente il brano è stato inserito come title-track nella raccolta "Songbird" del 1998 e pubblicato come singolo nel 2009 raggiungendo la 56° posizione della classifica inglese. Una versione solo voce e chitarra acustica è contenuta nella raccolta "Simply Eva" del 2011.

Eva... so lovely lady of the Rainy City (R.I.P.).. she did not get famous until after she died.. such a shame but it happens sometimes... btw I used to sing this years ago for no particular reason but never like this amazing lady ((=~.~=))

I dedicate this song to my boyfreind who has comforted me through many tears.

Depression sometimes gets the best of me but he trys to get me to smile being silly and rubs my back or just holds me. I want to give him the world and he does make feel like its all right.
