He was NOT vindicated. They said that he acted inappropriately. He himself said it was a mistake.
Secondly, at an Obama rally when someone boos McCain - Obama admonishes them. McCain smiles and encourages it. Obama encourages unity - and as your post so well expresses - McCain encourages division.
