On the final day of our trip to Luang Prabang, Yui and I cross the Mekong to visit Mee and Tho's villiage, Ban Xiangmen. We participate in the almsgiving to the local monks and meet with the senior monk who shows us the ancient temples Wat Chom Pet and Wat Long Khon. Ban Xiangmen is almost as rich with history and architectural beauty as Luang Prabang. This is the third of a three part series. The traditional music is from the album "Vision of the Orient - Music from Laos"

  • Thanks for watching SahaiMakMuan

I must admit to being partial and influenced by the Thai side as Yui is Thai - so perhaps "part of" was too strong - my readings have Laos as a vassal-state of Siam for awhile (1700s western calendar) and they do share many things culturally - my point was that Thailand has lost some of those cultural things as they became more "modern" and separated from Laos more over time. But I agree that I need to learn more and return to Laos again.

  • this guy don't know what history he is talking about.....

  • Wait a minutes. I think that i hear something is incorrection history information......

What i have learn and study Lao was never part of Thailand. However, Thailand was part of Lao. Laos was the oldest cilization on earth, therefore Lao was never part of Thailand. Yes, Lao was lost many war to thais and land.

Please dont give a wrong information that Lao was part of Thailand....I am 100% agreed with this video...and some commnts below.

  • laos wass never part of thailand or back in the days when lan xang was form ..plz go read some more .. then come tell me what u you

  • Yeah! Lao was part of Thailand when it was under Siam occupation, but Laos has always been a country for hundred of years. In fact Laos is one of the oldest civilization on earth. After long Thai occupation, Laos managed to get back what it is today Laos and still lost large piece of territory as we know it as Lao Isan or Isan Northeastern & Northern part of Thailand. The guide in the video sounds like Lao Isan to me. If she born and grow up in Khonkaen it is very likely she is an ethnic Lao.

  • yes i agree laos never be part of thailand.

  • iguilty3, tnx for posting. Regarding to Laos was a "part of" , I believe SahaiMakMuan, was right. Your can google Lan Xang Kingdom, or Laos history you will learn that Laotian was the largest ethic group in asia during Lan Xang Kingdom era. tnx, you did a great job!

  • Nice video!

  • Good video, good editing, good narration, only one incorrect statement: "long ago, Laos was a part of Thailand...". No sir, Laos was never, ever part of Thailand, period. Read your history books, I mean the impartial history books, again.

    Thanks for posting.
