Carnac has the world's greatest concentration of megalithic sites erected between 5000 BC and 3500 BC. An Alignment (alignement in French)is a series of standing stones arranged in straight lines.

@TheTitaniumsyfy - Have they ever been excavated? I can accept the possibility of nothing under the stones, but what about under the Pyramids of the world? Any thoughts there?

I'm a bit concerned that you are in there without a guide. Trespass and at a Unesco monument at that. They keep people out for a reason, you know! Ground erosion is a big problem at these monuments--they are not playgrounds! What makes it seem worse is that you obviously just went in because it looked 'cool' not that you have any real interest or knowledge of the monument.
