This is a Video about a clutch job I did on a John Deere 2950 series tractor.
I had a few thigns said during the video, but the workshop noise was just too much, so I decided to put subtitles in place instead.
Enjoy :)

  • I don't have the need nor can I afford the kind of tractors I see in your videos. I have a Case International Farmall 70HP. Maybe not every time I come in off the field, but at least once or twice a week I hose it off with pressurized water to keep most of the dirt off. I am real picky about my equipment. I work as an aircraft mechanic for 35 years and I apply the same principles to taking care of my farm equipment. I irritates me a lot to see people not care for their equipment.

  • @Hawk6DM I see now where the love in detail and care is coming from :)

Well and the other thing is, getting into a nice clean and good working machine is much more fun as well right? Some of our customers come into the shop with the an attitude that their tractor reflects in looks. Boggles my mind. I would hate driving around in my Minivan, if it was dirty and unreliable. Same with my tools, cheap and dirty aint as much fun as great tools well taken care of and organized.

  • It is always a pleasure talking to a fellow technician. It seems that most of us

are the ones taking more care of equipment than the standard farmer.

    Makes sense I guess.

Be good and enjoy farming as long as you can, it is a piece of freedom in my opinion, not just work.

  • It just makes me sick to see a good piece of machinery abused and neglected like this. c'mon owner, can't you even hose it off every so often? Jeez!!

  • @Hawk6DM AMEN. That is one thing that keeps me going into depression. You repair a machine, just to see it come back trashed a few months later....what's the point me fixing it? NO respect for machine and techs work. Sure I need work, but there are plenty of tractors out there, fixing things for stupid ppl aint fun. Too few good guys out there :)

  • does this tractor have a clutch for the pto?

  • @conkernero Yes, but it is in the transmission housing, rather than being together with the traction clutch. They used a wet clutch (I believe 5 discs) on this machine. hydraulically operated, spring released.

  • @cacaest1987 Hehe, sounds like you had lots to do then. I like the big jobs. I know what you mean with the little extra work when you have split a tractor or have the engine open. Many techs don't think off the small things that you could do at that stage, preventive maintenance I call that ;)

Thanks for the great comment mate.

    Be good

  • I have have done loads of tractor & forklift clutches & clutch packs. i worked in a paper mill as an onsite mechanic, the tractors pulled far to much weight well over 60 tons all day long so clutches used to go regular, by the way good move changing the crankshaft oil seal i have worked with many senior mechanics that dont even know to do that.

  • @Moonsabie Thank you, I am glad you liked it :)
