I did not get permission so removed the song, but please hear/play No Doubt's Just a Girl, while watching this.

Valerie is a petite, sweetheart of a dog. She was found in a kill
shelter with an open compound fracture (a bone sticking out of her leg
for those non-medical types like me) a few days before the 4th of
July. Even in this condition, Valerie wagged her tail at people and
never even lifted a lip while the wound was cleaned and evaluated.

Our vet, Dr Rick, informed us the fracture was at least 2 and probably 3
weeks old when he evaluated it. The leg was so badly infected it could
not be saved. Fear not, this little bundle of joy and love is barely
slowed by the 25% loss of limb and more than makes up for it in her
amazing personality. She loves everyone at the vet office. She has
been friendly with all people and dogs at training classeseven
obnoxious out of control puppies are met with patience and a wagging
tail. She has interacted very well with my cat (note: Cat thinks he is
a dog and does not always behave like your typical cat..still he gets
the zoomies and tears through the house and even that has not evoked more than perked ears and attention).

Valerie is attending a Georgia Dog Gym obedience course and is doing very very well (this course has forever touch up classes that go with Valerie if her forever family is in the Rome, GA area). She is great
in the car. She is a joy to bathe and loves to be brushed. Valerie
loves her crate and is a super fastidious dog. We have had no
accidents at all in the crate, or in the house, even after surgery
when she was groggy.

To be fair, Valerie is not QUITE a perfect pup, though darn close. She
really does not like thunder storms and gets very nervous (we are
working on it). She also prefers to be with her people, inside and
gets a little anxious when in the yard. This behavior is improving,
but as a rule she goes outside to do her business and then wants back
inside with you. Slippery floors are still a minor problem for her and
she likes to cross them at warp 7 if you let her. She much prefers
carpet. Oh and she is not real fond of foot maintenance (she just
pulls feet away, I have never seen her show any aggression at ALL
toward people, even when stressed and we are working on that too).

Valerie has been a joy to foster. She is a very low maintenance girl.
She has the best smiles, and is so sweet and loving and just plain
easy to be around.
Did I mention I have yet to hear her bark, inside or out?

Valerie is looking for someone to be with, love and do all kinds of
stuff with. 3 legs will not be a problem, she is moving well and in a
couple more weeks I think she will be at near full speed, besides we
guarantee 25% less foot prints and dirt tracking.**

She is not quite perfect, but who is?

** The guarantee is a mathematical estimation in reduction in tracks,
dust and dirt. Actual results will vary.

Would you believe she was right as 42 pounds here? She is a Belgian Malinois Shepherd so quite a bit smaller than a GSD, but she was a brick of muscle!

All reports from her adoption home have been outstanding! Sounds like she is an awesome pet and the 3 legs do not slow her down even a little!

  • Valerie was adopted a while back and has an awesome home in the Northeast. We have received many photos and videos and she looks great and has truly found her forever home!
