Episode 8 of In Search of Giants: Dr Brian Cox takes us on a journey through the history of particle physics. In this episode we learn how Michael Faraday and James Clerk Maxwell showed that electricity and magnetism are two facets of the same thing.
This film is part of a series originally broadcast on Teachers' TV (http://www.teachers.tv/video/23645).
The series was made with the support of The Science and Technology Facilities Council (www.scitech.ac.uk).

I simply enjoy understanding our world better, in part due to videos like this.

Please this video is discussing science, not religion. There are many videos of debates on the subject here on youtube where you can talk about it.
Usually these debates on religion involve people like Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Peter Singer and the others. Please look them up and stop talking about things that are unrelated to the topic of this video.

I find the formulation in term of the equations of transformation superior:
E = v x B; respectivly H = v x D (these correspond with the Lorentz force). Neatly they show that a moving electric field is inducing a magnetic, and the other way around. This is the fundamental connection between the two.

Read Maxwell's book 'A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism'. His phrasing is superior (as is to be expected; he came up with it). You can find the book online as a pdf in scanned form.

Just like Faraday Tesla was a practical man. In contrast to Maxwell, who put most emphesis on a coherent theorie, they conducted experiments. Tesla is the father of the radio, the first power station at the niagra falls, the alternating current and among other inventions formost for the wireless transmission of energy via scalar waves (neutrinos). I can forward you to Konstantin Meyl, a german physicist, who developed a coherent theory unifying all fundamental interactions; german needed.

Just keep in mind that some of this information presented in this video could, deliberatly or undeliberatly, be manipulated or false. You're the one to judge.
Today's Maxwell's equations, which were formulated in 1888 by Heaviside after Maxwell's death, set the divergence of the B-Field to 0. As of 2009 with the discovery of magnetic monopoles by the Helmholtz society in Berlin this is prooved false. You're not to just believe this.
