Needing less from the advertising-and-debt machine is a way to start being less in the grip of the madness. It can start with baby steps.
People are catching on to what a scam and a racket the unsustainable, consumerist grind really is. And, between the stupid wars and the insane, endless 'war on (of) Drugs" the overlords are wasting trillions that could have helped create a more safe and sane society. Let's take our brains back!

@elleisrad destroying the US gov sounds like a good thing. I respect them no matter where they live. Am I to understand you think you are far better than people who live in other countries, simply because you happen to have been born in the United States? It sure sounds that way.

@breeze9245 If you throw a plastic fork away, eventually it will biodegrade, for one. there is the garbage for some things. Many things can be recycled and made into new things. In addition to this, I don't think they are suggesting we throw all our possessions away. Just not go out and buy so much. Noone really needs 20 pairs of shoes. LOL

but where would we put it all if we were to get rid of it?

People were obviously able to survive this long without all the crap we produce. Keep some, get rid of most.

Think harder. I bet you're smarter than this.

The idea that you can change the world without using its own dominant instruments against itself, is idiocy. Mass media, advertising - these are the things that drive our culture. They are the way to subvert it too because that's where everyone's attention is. It's not hypocrisy or a contradiction; it's genius.
