Steve MacKenzie (born November 23, 1961 in Romford, England) is an English footballer who played mostly as an attacking midfielder.
After beginning as an apprentice at Crystal Palace, he signed for Manchester City in 1979 for £250,000, then a record for a teenager. The move attracted considerable attention because MacKenzie had yet to play a Football League match. He would spent two seasons at Maine Road, and his second season coincided with the replacement of Malcolm Allison with John Bond and an upturn in fortunes. He gained renown for scoring spectacular goals, most notably in the 1981 FA Cup Final replay against Tottenham Hotspur.

@BoltJam im a lifelong spurs fan, that final was awesome, its because rickys goal won it, overshadowed steves. of its type, it has to be one of the greatest volleys ever scored. negrete, zidane, hoddle and mackensie volleys, when they really mattered, mouthwatering

yes, great goal ,steve used to go to school with me and was in my old school team, and like you all say villa's goal over shadowed it for some reason, even though i think steve's goal was better

Absolutely FANTASIC GOAL. It's hardly ever shown because of the goal that Ricardo Villa scored in the same game.
It's a pity - and because it's not shown hardly anybody remembers it or knows of it

This goal was stunning, but sadly it was overshadowed by Ricky Villa's even better one.
