I have mixed thoughts and feelings toward blu-ray at this point. As far as appearance goes. I am very pleased with blu-ray as a technology. As far as software goes I still feel more secure with standard DVD as in reliability and guarantee of complete functionality. One other thing that bothers me is, most blu-ray players lack traditional features dvd players sold today still have such as A-B repeat and number search for titles and tracks.. so 10 for A/V and an 8 for compatibility / features.
I disagree with you now but I would have said the same thing back in 08, but now I would probably never buy a standard dvd over a blu ray especially since the prices on new releases for both blu ray and dvd are nearly identical.
no way am i replacing my entire dvd collection with hd dvd or blu ray, ive nearly got every dvd i want and for me dvd is still excellent quality, i mean some transfers to hd arent any better than the dvd itself as far as i can see
i have an xbox 360 hd dvd player which i got with 5 free hd dvds late last year and im currently taking advantage of all the hd dvds being sold off cheap, its great cause im getting next gen format discs really cheap
I will only be buying my top 10-15 movies on blu ray and then only new films released, not old transfers of only movies, As im a gamer ill be buying a ps3 instead of a stand alone blu ray player

buy a ps2 game or a DS game, you'll probably get more joy out of it. The extra features of blue rey sounds gimmicky
