Make your own VXT mashup at http://www.thevxt.com/mashups

This amazing video demonstrates the true versatility and quality of the new Ovation VXT hybrid guitar. Our group of demo artists came together playing everything from blues and folk to some serious shredding, weaving together to create some amazing new music. With sounds ranging from all acoustic , to all electric and some sweet blends in-between, the VXT offers musicians an opportunity to create a whole new sound.

Thanks to our demo artists: 930moon, Kashif Ali, Bill Beckett, Kai Blackwood, Bill Collins, Mike Pellegrino, Mike Ranieri, Jonny Rodgers, Bob Stanek, Chino Ward.

  • A nice one! I wonder if alternate tuning is a feature? Thanks for the info.

  • You can certainly tune it however you want, there is no automatic or electronic alternate tuning feature.

  • So, what kind of equipment was used in this? I mean other than the guitar. There are some neat sounds in there.

  • Hey there, well, there's the VXT, two Genz Benz amps, one acoustic and one electric, and a couple of pedals are used too in some of the segments; a delay, an overdrive, and a wah.

  • nice

  • But will it blend?

  • seems really nice

  • This is like saying because a Tele is lighter then Les Pauls it is the same as hollow body. Cutting a hole, a shape out of a solid body doesn't make it a hollow body, or even comparable. Hollow body instruments are designed to resonate, a solid body of any shape, scooped or not is not designed to amplify sound.

  • You are are aware that Gibson has been making "weight relieved" Les Paul's for quite a while. It basically whole drilled in the body to make up for the heavier cheaper mahogany they have been buying. The VXT are hand made not machine made 5 at time. They also have heat dried wood as opposed to air dried wood. I have owned both a 1970s Les Paul Standard & VXT. I am speaking from from hands on expirence.

  • lol ovation

taylor makes something similar to this, except it actually sounds good. look up the T5.

The Line 6 Variax is actually not too bad either, and I think it's actually cheaper than the one here.

  • Listen dude... This is nothing like a Les Paul. Nowhere near to it's possibilities and refinement. You can't make any guitar for 1600 and say it's a fantastic acoustic alternative ànd as good as a Les Paul electric. Oh and BTW... I own a Les Paul Classic Custom and it is beautiful when you play it acoustic too ;) Off course, it's still the typical deep sound, but that's even a strong point in some cases... I'd say: try one out

  • damn it!!!!! you guys suck! Now I GOTTA get me one of those! lol

  • Closed Chambered bodies do not feedback. While you can buy a machine made no frills LP for small money those are inferior to VXT in quality of materials and fit & finish. The VXT is hand shaped Honderian Mahogany Body, AAA Grade Spruce Top, Full body and neck binding high gloss finish.

Hand finished frets and fingerboard. To get the equivelent quality materials and workmanship you looking at a Les Paul Classic or Standard. Those start at $1800 and go up.

  • Excuse me, my mistake, LPs start at $750...

  • You really sound like a high pressure salesman. 1 - It is possible for a guitar with small or no sound hole to feedback. 2- Gibson LPs start at $845 not $1800. 3 - Of course an LP isn't gonna have a blended accoustic sound, it isn't what it is used for. Then again this thing won't sound like a Les Paul at its best. You are trading Versatility for doing one thing great. Fair trade, nothing wrong with it...
