Happy Birthday David Gilmour!
Born March 6 1946.
Comfortably Numb was written by David Gilmour and Roger Waters in 1979 for the album "The Wall". David originally wrote the music for the song to be on his solo album "David Gilmour" but Roger wanted to use it in The Wall. The title during the writing of the lyrics was "The Doctor" and changed to Comfortably Numb before the release. The song surrounds two characters the Doctor and the patient who is played by The Wall's main character Pink.
Comfortably Numb is considered to be one of Pink Floyd's quintessential songs, the guitar solo at the end of the song is considered as one of the greatest guitar solos of all time, originally played on David's Black Strat.
