Note on the rejected EU Constitution and Lisbon Treaty:

The people of France and the Netherlands rejected the proposed EU constitution in the 2005 referendums. Since all 27 Member States are required to ratify, the Constitution was dead, but this took a long time to sink in. After this, other countries cancelled a promised referendum and the EU Constitution was re-written as an "amending treaty" or a "reform treaty" and named "Treaty of Lisbon".

On the basis of this deceit, they claimed that no referendums are necessary on the Lisbon Treaty. Ireland was constitutionally required to hold a referendum and on the 12 June 2008 the people of Ireland gave a resounding No to Lisbon. Yet this vote is not being respected and the rule of law is being ignored. The EU leaders agreed at the June 19-20 EU Summit that ratifications must go on. Moreover, 26 Member States are being denied a referendum.

The Lisbon Treaty establishes a new "European Union" with joint citizenship - an EU "federal" State that is technically and politically empowered to centralize more power in Brussels. The treaty also stipulates the militarisation of the Union in order to 'police the world' just like the US does today.

  • If Europe doesn't mind the US would love to borrow Nigel Farage to kick our US Congress to the curb! Ron Paul for President and Nigel Farage for Prime Minister!

  • a more joined up europe is a great idea - we should all move toward that end, i do agree even if the way to go forward is not sarkozy's way - or merkel's

  • @lapas Well, if Ron Paul's ideas are wild we should just burn the Constitution now! It would save a lot of time for him having to explain it to Americans who don't read and prefer to watch Fox News for facts! Yes, I know the idea of freedom and liberty is dangerous, but that's why I'm going to vote for him because I'm dangerous too!

  • @TheNova1960 on the last sentance, i would disagree. ron pauls ideas are wild, but they are good. and Nigel should be president instead of ron. Ron should be Prime minister :)

  • @TheFestivelights When Americans continue to lose their civil liberties they will be an American Spring! Ron Paul has made a huge impact in the Republican GOP Race and he has every chance of a face off with King Obama!

  • @TheNova1960 Great thought but 'they' will never, ever let Ron Paul and Nigel Farage win. No way, not ever.

  • Good to see the Brits have an ass kicker in politics. I wish Ron Paul could speak as well as Farage, he'd be an instant President.

  • I am actually beginning to really like Farage. He is the only current UK politician that seems to tell it how it is and gives a straight credible answer.....BUT....he comes across as too aggressive and the electorate etc will see him as some sort of unhinged madman. Tone it down Nige' as I think the UK needs you mate!

  • @carlllll The Irish referendum was rigged, the police held the ballot boxes in secret for 48 hours. The EU bribed as many prominent people and newspaper editors to get the desired result. Just as Ted Heath rigged the referendum that took the UK into the so called EEC. All polls in Ireland showed a 70% No to Euro. All polls in 1972 showed the UK 80% No to joining the EEC.

  • I am english and will never give that up so eu go and get fu...d
