very good but the maple is different on the SRV neck

The maple is the same. The fretboard material on this low cost neck is rosewood whereas the Fender SRV neck uses pao ferro (ironwood) for the fretboard.

I just started building a strat. Do the neck screws have to screw tight into the holes for the neck plate screws in the body. does it only matter the the screws properly screw into the neck? Is so would I have to fill the holes in the body, for the neck, and re drill them?

Screws should barely slide through the body but fit tight in the neck heel.

buy a jap fender far superior to a mexican and as good as usa but way cheaper.fair play to build your own though.

it would disrupt tuning stability if the neck was left off for a while, without any strings, because the truss rod would readjust itself; due to the lack of tension from the absence of strings.

Whenever I install a neck, either a replacement or a build project, I spend a few weeks playing, and readjusting the neck screws and truss rod, just to let it set in properly

@vback77 If taking off the neck off disturbed the tuning stability, why would Leo put the truss rod adjustment at the base of the neck (like the vintage ones) instead of at the head stock (modern)?

Paint your guitar. Let it dry a few days or a week if possible. Carefully re-attach the neck by following the instructions in this video. Good to go.

Strats are modular guitars. That means you can take them apart and re-build them and everything will be fine. You don't have to be a luthier to work on a strat. If you are careful in removing and then reinstalling the neck, it'll be fine.

Remove all the strings. Then use a Phillips screwdriver that fits the neck mounting screws well (be careful not to bugger the heads of the screws). Carefully remove the screws and the neckplate and save them. Carefully lift off the neck.
